Maharashtra govt aims to provide electric connections to 19 Lakh houses

The government of Maharashtra has set an ambitious target of providing 19 lakh electric connections to houses located in the rural areas of the state by 2019. The project would be implemented under centrally funded Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY). The infrastructure in the urban areas will be augmented under centrally funded Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS). The state cabinet has recently given nod to MSEDCL's two schemes, aiming to strengthen  power infrastructure in rural as well as urban areas.
