Shipping Ministry to invest Rs.14,225 crore

The Government of India is keen to enhance the cargo handling capacity of various major ports in the country. The Ministry of Shipping plans to invest Rs. 14,225 crore on various Port Projects in the country. The emphasis is on creation of additional capacities through development and construction of new berths/terminals, revamping of existing berths and terminals and other modernization projects. During 2015-16, the ministry plans to award a total of 30 projects involving an investment of Rs 14,225 crore and capacity enhancement by 162 MTPA.
