Power sector major NTPC Ltd plans to increase its electricity generation capacity and is likely to spend Rs.30,000 crore in 2016-17. The demand is picking up due to ongoing efforts of the Government to turn around distribution companies under the Ujwal Discom Assurance Yojana (UDAY).
