The government has allocated a total of Rs 19,518 crore to all metro projects across India in the Union Budget 2023-24. The total budgetary outlay for year 2023-24 for all metro projects stands at Rs 19,518 crore.

The 'Lite Metro' may be introduced to Chennai's public transportation system in the near future. The Chennai Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (CUMTA) is planning to conduct a preliminary feasibility assessment on executing the Lite Metro project in Chennai.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will soon undertake a Juhu Beach beautification project, for which K West Ward has allotted Rs 4 crore. The theme of the project is ‘Plastic-free Ocean’. As part of the beautification, the BMC will install lights at the entrance of the beach and art for children’s entertainment.

The recently constituted Cotton Board has sought Rs 35-crore loan from the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) for purchase of cotton meant for textile mills in the State. A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish, Principal Secretary, Industries, who heads the Board told that the Board was constituted to ensure transparent purchase of raw material for spinning mills at the most advantageous price.
