Electric vehicle (EV) charging station business may require an investment to the tune of Rs 1.05 lakh crore by 2032 as the country is expected to need 2.30 lakh such facilities during this period. This massive investment will be required to cater to the growing demand for EVs, which is expected to grow at a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 39 per cent.

Airports Authority of India and other private airport developers have targeted a capital outlay of approximately Rs 98,000 crore in the airport sector over the next five years for expansion and modification of existing terminals, new terminals, and runway strengthening.

The government will increase the number of airports, water aerodromes and heliports to 200 in the next five years from 145 currently to boost air connectivity, and asked eight states to lower exorbitant VAT on air turbine fuel.

Tata-owned Air India has accelerated the national airline’s expansion pace. The airline, which had earlier announced to take 30 aircraft on short-term lease, will now lease an additional six Boeing 777-300ERs as part of an aggressive expansion. The expansion will also see a ramp-up in flights to European and North American cities.

Lithium-ion battery pack maker and recycling firm Lohum has drawn up an aggressive expansion plan for the next five years amid the Lithium-ion battery industry expecting to grow 11-times between 2020-2030. This growth will come on the back of rising demand for electric vehicle batteries.

Ola Electric, in conjunction with stakeholders, is putting together a plan to ensure a stable supply of raw materials which go into the making of a lithium battery cell. The company is the only two-wheeler electric vehicle (EV) player that has decided to manufacture the cell and control its technology — which are crucial components for making the battery.

In addition to the already existing seven wayside amenities (WSA) equipped with EV charging stations, the central government has provisioned for 137 more such facilities to be built on India’s national highways. NHAI is developing WSA across Highways and Expressways. Presently, seven WSA facilities are equipped with EV charging stations.

GurujeeKumaran Swami, Vice-Chairman, United Kingdom-based SRAM & MRAM, announced that the group will invest Rs 2 lakh crore in Odisha to set up semiconductor unit in the state. The announcement was made at the Make in Odisha (MIO) Conclave, 2022.

Odisha’sMayurbhanj will finally have a functional airport. The state government has received the Defence Ministry’s approval to revive a World War II-era airfield lying defunct at Rasgovindpur near Amarda Road which is around 45 km from the district headquarters.
