Hyderabad would be the first city in the country to treat 100 per cent of its the sewage as the State government is contemplating to complete and take up the operation of 31 Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) in the City by June this year. With a total treatment capacity of 1,258 MLD (million litres per day), the State government spent over Rs 3,800 crore.

Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board (KUWSDB) is laying 202 km of underground drainage lines in the twin cities of Hubbali and Dharwad under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme.

The water infrastructure is being spruced up across the length and breadth of the country. The urban local bodies (ULB's) are very much active on this front.

RMC has designed a project in which electricity will be generated through methane gas emanating out of sewage treatment plants (STP) that are likely to be proposed to set up at Raiyadhar and Bedigam. The Rajyadhar STP will have 56 MLD capacity while the Bedigam STP will have 76 MLD capacity. These STPs would be completely computerized.

Global infrastructure EPC major, an RPG Group company has bagged orders from Bangalore Water Supply Sewerage Board for two sewage treatment plants of 15 MLD and 20 MLD capacities on turnkey basis.

Bagged an order from Orissa Water Supply and Sewerage Board for water and waste water management project funded by JICA.

The corporation is executing 355-km underground drainage (UGD) network. The work on this project had started in 2003 and is nearing completion. The project includes four sewage treatment plants (STPs) at Kavoor, Pachchanady, Bajal and Suratkal. Out of this, 43.5 MLD STP at Kavoor and 8.75 MLD STP at Pachchanady have been commissioned. The 20 MLD plant at Bajal and 16.5 MLD STP at Suratkal will be commissioned soon.

Plans to set up sewage treatment plants at Villivakkam, Sholinganallur and Navalur. The capacity would be 135, 100 and 6 mlds in the respective locations under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission and Tamil Nadu Urban Development Project.

Construction of sewage treatment plants and pumping stations in 2.75 mld capacity at Doraha zone I, District: Ludhiana. Consultant will be finalised in two months.
