Oct 24, 2017 Residential projects likely to come up in villages near Mega cities The Government of India is leaving no attempts to give a momentum to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). Housing ministry plans to allow residential projects in villages close to mega cities. Talks are on with the rural development ministry and a decision will be taken up soon. The housing shortage in the urban areas of the country is around 1.2 crore in 4,041 statutory urban local bodies. The Centre is targeting to provide houses to all urban poor by 2022.

Jul 18, 2017 Tata Sponge to expand capacity to 4.25 lakh TPA Tata Sponge Iron plans to enhance the capacity of its Keonjhar facility in Odisha. In May 2017, the company has received environmental clearance from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, towards the proposal to enhance DRI production from 3.9 lakh TPA to 4.25 lakh TPA. The capacity expansion will be carried out in the existing facility located at Biliepada in Keonjhar, Odisha.
