The Government of India plans to establish about 100 airports across the country at an estimated investment of Rs 4 lakh crore. Around 70 airports will come up at places where there is no airport, the rest would be second airport in a given location.

The Government of India is leaving no attempts to give a momentum to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). Housing ministry plans to allow residential projects in villages close to mega cities. Talks are on with the rural development ministry and a decision will be taken up soon. The housing shortage in the urban areas of the country is around 1.2 crore in 4,041 statutory urban local bodies. The Centre is targeting to provide houses to all urban poor by 2022.

Under Sagarmala Programme, the Government of India has identified 415 projects at an estimated investment of approximately Rs.8 Lac Crore. The projects identified are across port modernization, new port development, port connectivity enhancement, port-linked industrialization and coastal community development.

The Government of India is keen to revive stalled hydro projects which are mainly facing cost overruns because of delay. The Centre plans to create a hydro development fund in the next three months. All the central, state and private-sector hydro projects will be brought under the renewable category.

The Government of India aims to set up petrochemical clusters. As per the plan, two clusters each will come up in east and west coasts, and some in south India. They will be integrated with refineries so that the entire chain is benefited.

Tata Sponge Iron plans to enhance the capacity of its Keonjhar facility in Odisha. In May 2017, the company has received environmental clearance from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, towards the proposal to enhance DRI production from 3.9 lakh TPA to 4.25 lakh TPA. The capacity expansion will be carried out in the existing facility located at Biliepada in Keonjhar, Odisha.
