IndiGo, placed an order for 500 A320 family planes with Airbus, making it the world’s largest ever single-tranche aircraft acquisition. The order, for narrow-bodied planes such as A320neo, A321neo, and A321XLR, will cement its growth plans in the next decade with deliveries taking place from 2030 to 2035.

Foundation stone for the expansion of Orient Cement Company at Devapur village in Kasipetmandal was laid by Telangana IT minister KT Rama Rao. KTR inaugurated the expansion of the cement plant at Devapur Village which would provide direct and indirect employment to 4000 local people.

Ambuja Cements plans to expand its clinker capacity by eight million tonnes at Bhatapara and Maratha units with 42 MW of WHRS, with provision to utilise 50 per cent AFR and provision to operate on green power, the company said. The capacity expansion projects will enable production of Blended Green Cement of 14 million tonnes, post all requisite approvals.

Naveen Jindal-led Jindal Steel & Power (JSPL) is laying the groundwork to add about 15 million tonne of integrated cement capacity to its existing steel and power businesses.

The Railways is planning to create a cement corridor to link factories manufacturing cement, clinker and fly ash for the seamless movement of these products. The Railways is in talks with the Cement Manufacturing Association (CMA) to create a road map to link cement manufacturing factories in the eastern, central, Rajasthan and southern clusters.

Assam-based Purvanchal Cement has earmarked Rs 200 crore for acquisition and expansion over the next few years, including foraying into markets outside the northeastern region like West Bengal. The Maithon Group company has at present a 0.5-million tonne capacity plant near Guwahati.

JK Lakshmi Cement has tied up with GreenLine, a pioneer in green and smart logistics in India, for the introduction of LNG-fuelled heavy trucks for transporting cement. "With this association, GreenLine will enable JK Lakshmi Cement to decarbonise its road logistics operations in a phased manner over the next few years.”

Kotak Mahindra Bank has invested Rs 550 crore in Sanghi Industries Group by subscribing to nonconvertible debentures of the cement-making company and its promoter grouping.

Asian Paints announced Rs 2,100 crore of phased investment to set up a new plant to produce vinyl acetate ethylene emulsion (VAE) and vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) in the country. The company also announced another Rs 550 crore of investment to set up a white cement plant in the UAE in partnership with two local firms there.
