The Asian Development Bank has approved a $500 million loan to construct two new metro rail lines in Bengaluru. The Bengaluru Metro Rail Project will establish two new metro rail corridors to augment the system. The two new metro lines, mostly elevated, will have a total length of 56 km.

The Government of Odisha plans to connect the city of Cuttack with smart city Bhubaneswar through a metro rail corridor.

Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) plans to install solar panel on the roofs of all the 21 stations of the Noida-Greater Noida Metro rail corridor. The corporation has entered into an agreement with Sukhbir Agro Energy Ltd. The work has started and likely to complete in 6 months.

The metro rail corridor in the country is growing with every project commissioned. The Centre expects the total length of Metro rail corridor in the country to become 600 km by 2020. With the service extension of the Kochi Metro till Maharaja’s College Ground, the total length of the Metro rail corridor operational in the country has become 383 km. Various metro projects comprising 523 km are under construction across the country.
