NHAI has floated tenders for six-laning of the Aurangabad to Bihar-Jharkhand Border Road in Bihar under different packages in EPC mode under Bharatmala Pariyojna at a cost of Rs. 607.46 crore. The works will be implemented in a period of 24 months.

NHAI has floated a tender for a six-lane access-controlled spur to Haridwar from Delhi-Saharanpur-Dehradun Economic Corridor near Halgoya village in Uttar Pradesh, traversing through the northern side of Roorkee and merging with NH-334 (Old NH 58), at a cost of Rs. 1,237.95 crore.

The strategic Pathankot-Mandi road-widening project linking Pathankot with Leh has been delayed because forest and environment clearances are yet to be granted. The NHAI project has been hanging fire since 2018, though 90 per cent land for the first phase of the project has already been acquired.

The drive from Ludhiana to Bathinda will soon be smoother and faster as work has begun to six-lane the 75.543-km-long national highway 754-AD at a cost of Rs. 1,716.17 crore. This part of the Ludhiana-Ajmer economic corridor (EC-8) will be completed in 24 months under the Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-I.

The Chennai Port-Maduravoyal double-decker expressway may finally take shape with more access points and an increased estimate. The project cost has been revised by the National Highways Authority of India from Rs. 3,100 crore to more than Rs. 5,000 crore and the revised plan has seven entries and six exits.

The Bengaluru-Mysuru Economic Corridor project will be completed by October 2022. The 10-lane highway connecting the two cities will reduce travel time from three hours to 90 minutes. The 117 km-long highway is divided into two packages. As of April end, around 67.5% of the first package and about 50% of the second package was completed.

Traffic problems at Bilaspur chowk and Manesar on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway may soon be reduced with the NHAI planning to construct flyovers at both points. The NHAI has invited tenders for the construction of an elevated road at Manesar and a flyover at Bilaspur Chowk.

The state government has approved the alignment of four new four-lane roads proposed by NHAI. These include four-lane roads between Mokama and Munger, Barauni and Muzaffarpur, Buxar and Haidaria, and Buxar and Varanasi. Of the total alignment, 29 km falls in Bihar’s territory and the rest in Uttar Pradesh.

NHAI will undertake construction of 10 flyovers to unclog the road and provide easier passage on the Jaipur-Kishangarh stretch. Bids have been invited and work is expected to begin in November. While six flyovers will be constructed for rectification of ‘black spots’, four will be constructed to provide smooth passage.
