Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid foundation stone and inaugurate projects worth more than Rs 10,800 crore. According to an official the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone and inaugurate various developmental projects related to irrigation, and drinking water besides a National Highway development project.

The central government is spending around Rs 2,500 crore on various drinking water supply schemes in the districts of Darjeeling, Kalimpong and North Dinajpur and plans to provide water connections to around 8.72 lakh households.

The drinking water and sanitation department of Uttarakhand will install more than 500 “water ATMs” across the state, especially on Char Dham routes, to reduce use of bottled water packed in plastic bottles that pose dangers to the environment

Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of 23 projects worth over Rs 17500 crore. Among the 23 projects, the foundation stone will be laid for 17 projects worth over Rs 14100 crore. These Projects cover a wide array of sectors across the state including irrigation, road, housing, health infrastructure, industry, sanitation, drinking water supply among others.

Karnataka is set to get three more materials-recovery facilities in the next one year through the Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Department. The first MRF of rural Karnataka has been operating since August this year at Nitte gram panchayat (GP) limits in Karkala. The work on three more projects is in progress.

In a major thrust to drinking water and sewerage infrastructure within Hyderabad Urban Agglomeration (HUA) limits, the Telangana government has approved two mega projects worth over Rs. 5,000 crore. With this, Hyderabad would emerge as the only city in the country to achieve 100 per cent sewage treatment.

The Karnataka government plans to invest over Rs. 2,100 crore in new irrigation and drinking water projects in Belgavi district alone. This is apart from the projects worth Rs. 7,500 crore that are already in progress. The state government has given approval to the Ghatti Basavanna Drinking Water Scheme in Gokak.
