Plans to set up container terminal project in 3 phases at Tuna-Tekra, Kandla. The terminal will have an effective quay length of 2,100 m in U-shape, well protected with break waters. It would cater to six vessels at a time and capable of handling container vessels up to 18,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units). The terminal project will be executed on BOT basis under PPP mode. The phase-I completion is targeted in three years from the construction start date. Bidding process is on for this project.
