Under the UDAN scheme, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has identified 18 airports in Uttar Pradesh, 6 airports each in Rajasthan and Odisha. The government has also developed and operationalised nine heliports in the NSOP category under the UDAN scheme in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand

The Centre has proposed two airstrips in Telangana in the next round of the regional connectivity program. The centre wants to connect 54 wildlife, religious, and tourist destinations under the next round UDAN scheme and would invite bids by the end of 2022.

Government has set a target to operationalise 100 airports by 2024 subject to availability of supporting infrastructure such as land, statutory approvals etc. Nearly 68 airports have been operationalised for Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS)-UDAN flights since inception of UDAN scheme.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has set a target of making operational 100 unserved and underserved airports and starting at least 1,000 air routes under the UDAN scheme. Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said domestic flight services from Bilaspur town in Chhattisgarh will begin from March 1 under the regional connectivity scheme.
