Mumbai Metro-3 corridor comprising 33.5-kilometre underground Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ metro corridor will be taken up in two phases. The first phase of the project will be completed by May 2021. The third metro line will have capacity to carry about 17 lakh passengers per day.

The company has received six applications from companies seeking pre-qualification for the design and supply of rolling stock for Metro 3. The six interested entities are from India, Japan, China, Spain and France.

As part of its Colaba-Seepz-Bandra underground metro project, MMRC plans to construct stations at Sahar Road, domestic and international airports. Airport operator Mumbai International Airport (MIAL) has agreed to provide Rs 777 crore as its contribution towards the construction of these three stations. Recently an MOU has been signed between MMRC and MIAL in this regard.

The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has received overwhelming response from national and international companies to construct the 33.5-km long Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ Metro-3 corridor. In all 31 bids from 9 consortiums have been received by the MMRC for the 7 packages.

Mumbai Metro-III project will cover a distance of 33.5 km underground corridor that will run from Colaba-BKC-SEEPZ, a distance of 33.5 km. The project-affected persons (PAPs) will be rehabilitated with homes that are double the present size. Consultant will be appointed to suggest ways to rehabilitate PAPs in Girgaon and Kalbadevi area.

Metro-III project comprises Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ corridor. The tendering process for the civil works is on for this project. The work is likely to start by 2016. Project affected people are planned to be rehabilitated to Chakala, Oshiwara, Kurla, Vidyavihar and Wadala.
