May 05, 2022 Mumbai Sea Link Package 1 4 kilometres road work completed In Mumbai Trans Harbour Sea Link (MTHL) project Package 1 nearly 4 kilometres road work has been completed. Package 1 includes 10.4 stretches. These projects will be socioeconomic drivers for the nation. Meanwhile, Metropolitan Commissioner MMRDA SVR Srinivas said that the work of 4 km spread of the C-2 access road and of the original bridge is completed. "The contractor will be able to transport construction materials from the access road to the original bridgework which will speed up the construction of the Project. Earlier, temporary bridges and elevators were used for bridgework and inspection. This is a milestone as it is currently possible to drive on the main bridge of MTHL on the roads of Mumbai," he said. Overall 76 percent of MTHL project work has been completed. The work has been divided into three civil packages and one package for traffic system installation. Furthermore, Srinivas added that the MTHL project is an engineering marvel. MTHL 22KM total length 16.5km passing on sea & 5.5 km on road. Expenditure --Rs 17,843 crore. May 05, 2022 Rs 72 crore plan for Bhiwandi roads project Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) which is the special planning authority in Bhiwandi and is also responsible for road works is planning to better the condition of roads passing below the elevated Metro Line 5 (Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan). “The roads along the elevated Metro Line 5 are in a poor condition. The estimated cost of road improvement work is amounting to Rs 72 crore. “The work will be carried out on the stretch between Kaseli toll plaza and Anjurphata,” added the official. Bhiwandi is a logistic hub with a number of big companies having their warehouses located here. Commuters face major issues, especially during the monsoons, owing to the bad road conditions which also result in traffic jams. Pedestrians too are left with no patch of good road to walk. “The road being repaired also connects to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) and is used by vehicles carrying goods from warehouses, making it essential to improve its condition,” said the MMRDA official.
