BMC will begin the tunnel boring work for the Mumbai Coastal Road project by October 25, according to the timeline prepared by the Civic Coastal Road Department. It will take eight to 10 months to complete boring the 3.4-km twin tunnels between Priyadarshini Park at Malabar Hill and Girgaum Chowpatty.

The Coastal Road is an under construction 29.2-km long freeway that would run along Mumbais western coastline connecting Marine Lines in the south to Kandivali in the north. The work has commenced. HCC-Hyundai Development Corp had bagged the order for the design and construction of road, bridges, interchanges including reclamation and associated works between Baroda Palace near Haji Ali and the Worli end of Bandra Worli Sea Link. Larsen & Toubro had bagged orders for two packages (1 and 4) of Mumbai Coastal Road Project in October, 2018. The completion of the project is targeted in 2022.
