The state government has resumed the process of setting up a convention centre at Dona Paula. The state cabinet approved the re-engagement of Knight Frank (India) Pvt Ltd as project consultant. The government intends to develop the centre on public-private partnership (PPP) basis. It is likely to come up on a 52-acre plot.

Almost seven years after inception, work on the underground sewerage network and sewerage treatment plant for Calangute is far from completion. The project for Calangute and other parts of Goa is funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the contract of this project is with Simplex Company.

The Varunapuri-MPT flyover project is likely to get delayed by eight months due to non-availability of labour, funds, construction material and the Covid fear among migrant labourers. The project work has started and is going at the scale of 13 per cent.

The tender document for construction of the 250 tonne per day (TPD) solid waste treatment plant at Bainguinim has been vetted by an internal auditor. The project, estimated to cost Rs. 200 crore, will be based on a build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) delivery method. Tenders will be invited soon.

The initial phase of the Miramar beach front face lift was thrown open to the public recently. Taken up for redevelopment and beautification under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme, the second part of the project should be open for the public by October and the entire project ready by December end.

The company announced its entry into the Goa market with its first residential development project, ‘Prestige Ocean Crest’, at Dona Paula. Mathias Construction Pvt Ltd is to jointly develop the project. The premium residential development project will consist of 106 apartments, seven shops and one sea-view restaurant.

Plans to construct 64 dwelling units under PMAY in Xeldem-Quepem to provide quality affordable housing. This will enable Goans to participate in the e-auction process without having to attend a physical auction and will also reduce paperwork. The software is being developed by Goa Electronics Ltd.

The Centre has tasked Indian Port Rail and Ropeway Corporation Ltd (IPRCL) to evaluate the technical feasibility for a Rs. 350-crore project to connect Vasco and Dona Paula in Goa through a ropeway. Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) has identified land on both sides for the ropeway.

The state cabinet has approved the enhancement of treatment capacity of the solid waste management facility at Saligao to 250 TPD (+20%) at an approved project cost of Rs. 103.87 crore. The cabinet also resolved to approve the payment in the form of Gross Annual Operational Support Grant of Rs 11.22 crore per annum.
