Union minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has said that the government is working towards making India a global automobile manufacturing hub in the next five years. The government is already making policies to support the industry, he said, adding that India can become the world’s largest electric vehicle market.

The cargo division of Hyderabad International Airport has entered into an agreement with the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation to launch a first-mile pick-up and last-mile delivery cargo bus feeder service. TSRTC buses will connect GMR Hyderabad Cargo Terminal to other parts of the state as well as neighbouring states.

The state will have 26 newly developed or rebuilt National Highway roads on a 1,412-km stretch at a cost of 15,592 crore. Some of the roads are in key cities like Visakhapatnam, which is going to emerge as the executive capital, and Vijayawada. The state government is supporting the projects by providing the land.

Plans to set up 30 petrol and diesel pumps and five liquefied natural gas (LNG) pumps to earn more revenue. An MoU for this was signed between MSRTC and the Indian Oil Corporation. IOC will help to set up the pumps and infrastructure. The pumps will come up on MSRTC land across Maharashtra.

MORTH has given its nod to construction of a four-lane bridge parallel to Vikramshila Setu over the Ganga in Bhagalpur. The 4.367-km bridge is to be constructed at an expenditure of Rs. 1,116.72 crore over a period of four years. The To be constructed east of Vikramshila Setu, the bridge will have 68 pillars.

MoRTH has invited bids for construction of Sungal Tunnel in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The scope of work includes design and construction of Sungal Tunnel (total length 2.79 km) under project Sampark, Border Roads Organisation (BRO) on EPC mode. The estimated value of the project is Rs. 633.6 crore.

Has issued a tender where the scope of work includes upgradation to two-lane with paved shoulder from 20.300 km to 29.030 km of 8.730 km length on Goha-Khellani section on NH-244 on EPC mode. The project is expected to be completed by December 2021.
