India will add 3,110 MW hydro power generation capacity built at an investment of about Rs 45,000 crore this fiscal, expanding the current installed capacity of 46,850 MW by 6.6 per cent.

More than 154 km long power supply cables will go underground in the city. Official sources from the Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company Limited or central discom that supplies energy to 16 districts including the state capital, said that total works of Rs 6,036 crore will be done in the discom areas.

Adani Power (APL) said a 800 MW unit at its thermal plant in Jharkhand has begun commercial operations.

The power transmission network is planned to be expanded from 4,25,500 circuit km (existing as on May 31, 2020) to 4,54,200 circuit kilometre (ckm) by 2024-25 resulting in addition of nearly 28,700 ckm under Prime Minister's Gati Shakti Master Plan.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Tata Power Delhi Distribution (TPDDL) have entered into an agreement to enhance Delhi’s power distribution. ADB will subscribe to non-convertible debentures for Rs 1.5 billion for grid enhancements, and a $2 million grant to partially finance the purchase and integration of a pilot battery energy storage system (BESS).
