Odisha’s Directorate of Mines has served a show-cause notice to Sarada Mines Ltd for recovery of Rs. 1,042 crore in respect of alleged excess iron ore production in Keonjhar district. Following a Supreme Court order, the company was allowed to resume mining operations, but has allegedly exceeded its limits.

Construction of the controversial new parliament building at a cost of Rs. 922 crore has been cleared by the Environment Ministry’s Expert Appraisal Committee, with the usual caveats on minimal tree cutting, environmental responsibility and so on, even as a Special Leave Petition on the issue is pending before the Supreme Court.

India largest power producer NTPC plans to start coal production from Pakri-Barwadih mine in Jharkhand this year as it is in advance stage of implementation. The work on three more blocks is expected in the next two years. In March, NTPC was reallotted five coal blocks that were cancelled last year by the Supreme Court.

The Centre has recently allocated Utkal D and E coal blocks in favour of Nalco. With this allocation, around 200 million tonne of coal will be added to the captive resources of the company. The company has already set up a 4.6 lakh tonne smelter and 1,200 MW Captive Power Plant in Odisha's Angul district.

Bagged an order from Central Public Works Department (CPWD), Delhi for the construction of an additional office complex for the Supreme Court of India in New Delhi. The work has started and completion is targeted in two years.
