Plans to implement Metro project for Vijayawada. DMRC has submitted a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for this project. The Metro would have two corridors from Pandit Nehru Bus Terminal to Penamaluru covering 12.76 km and 13.27-km stretch from Pandit Nehru Bus Terminal to Nidamanuru. The phase-I is likely to complete by January 1, 2019. The Metro Rail Depot would require a chunk of 11.34 hectares out of overall requirement of 31 hectare.

SCR has commissioned doubling of the line between Akividu and Bhimavaram railway stations in Vijayawada Division, with the running of Tirupati-Bilaspur Express. The newly-commissioned line is important as it is a part of the Gudivada-Bhimavaram section in the coastal belt of Andhra Pradesh.

The civic body plans to implement the project to construct 70,000 affordable houses in Vijayawada. Around 200 acre of land is required for the project.

The Kanakadurga Flyover is a flyover spanning across Krishna River and Prakasam Barrage in Vijayawada. It is the longest flyover in the state of Andhra Pradesh with a length of 2.3 km. The flyover works is underway and nearing completion. The completion is targeted in January, 2020.

The civic body has decided to construct a water treatment plant and reservoir at the Andhra Pradesh Township and Infrastructure Development Corporation (APTIDCO) Jakkampudi colony. The raw water from the head waterworks will be pumped to the plant with an underground pipeline. The plant will provide 150 litres of purified water per day. The contractor is not yet finalised.

The state road transport corporation plans to introduce 1,000 electrical buses to reduce pollution levels on three of the following routes: Vijayawada-Gannavaram, Vijayawada-Mangalagiri, and Tirupati-Tirumala. The corporation has begun the process to hire 350 electric buses in this regard under Fame-II scheme.

The authority has commissioned a 1 MW project at the Vijayawada International Airport. The solar project has been deployed on six acre of vacant land adjacent to the car park of the airport. The solar plant will generated 4000 to 4500 units per day. Novus

The railways is implementing Vijayawada-Bhimavaram-Nidadavolu covering 221-km doubling and electrification project. A sum of Rs 175 crore has been allotted in the recent budget.

Plans to lay a third Railway line between Vijayawada-Guduru (293 Km) which would pass through Prakasam District. The project was sanctioned in 2017-18. The work will start in 2-3 months.
