The Rajahmundry airport located at Madhurapudi village is currently handling around 12 operations per day. The airport can handle 225 passengers per hour. The expansion project is under implementation and includes extension of runway from 1,418 metre to 3,165 meter, construction of aerobridge and new aprons. The work is targeted to complete by year end.

Airports Authority of India (AAI) gears up to augment and develop the Rajamahendravaram airport in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Around 857 acre of land is acquired for the airport expansion project.
