May 05, 2022 ADB approved USD 2mn loan for urban development in Nagaland The Asian Development Bank will provide a USD 2 million loan for designing climate resilient urban infrastructure, strengthening institutional capacity and improving municipal resource mobilisation in Nagaland. Government of India and ADB signed the USD 2 million Project Readiness Financing (PRF) loan, the Manila- headquartered lender said in a release. Nagaland’s towns and cities face the long-term challenges of climate change, lack of basic amenities, poor connectivity. The PRF loan will help design water supply, sanitation, solid waste management and urban roads in 16 district headquarter towns (DHTs) with climate resilient features and improved access to poor and vulnerable. Capacity building of state agencies will help augment own-resource mobilization by urban local bodies, improve their readiness for implementing the ensuing project and initiating sector and institutional reforms.
May 05, 2022 Gujarat Government approves water supply-underground sewerage scheme The Gujarat Government has given in-principle approval for works worth Rs. 30.52 crore for water supply schemes under Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana in two municipalities Savarkundla and Upleta municipality of the state. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also gave approval to Dholka municipality of Ahmedabad district to undertake works worth Rs. 20.23 crore for underground sewerage project phase-4.1 under Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana. CM gave in-principle approval to undertake various works worth Rs. 50.75 crore in these three towns. Accordingly, the works to be undertaken in Savarkundla Municipality include 20-meter-high Elevated Surface Reservoir (ESR) with capacity of 15 lakh liters, 36 lakh liters of underground sump, distribution system, pump house, pumping machinery and filter plant. The water supply works to be undertaken by Upleta Municipality include intake well, renovation of existing intake well, 4 MLD capacity water treatment plant, underground sump, high tank and rising main and various distribution system works. All these works in Savarkundla and Upleta will be carried out keeping in view the water requirement of the estimated population for the year 2052.
May 05, 2022 Foundation stone laid for Rs 250 crore Gujarat dam project Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra Patel laid the foundation stone of of Vaghrech Tidal Regulator Dam Project at a cost of Rs 250 crore. An e-plaque of project was unveiled by the CM. Apart from this, a newly-constructed railway overbridge at a cost of Rs 55 crore from the grants of State Urban Development and Housing Department through the Roads and Buildings Department above railway gate 108-109 in Bilimora municipal area was virtually dedicated by CM. Addressing a gathering at Vaghrech, the CM said that ground water level in the state has risen due to a series of check dams, bore dams, Sujalam-Suflam and other multi-purpose projects, canal and pipeline network, Sauni scheme, tidal projects, water storage, irrigation and water storage dimensions.
