IT company HCL Technologies expects to double semiconductor services business in 3-4 years following capabilities that it will develop around electronic chip plants to be set by its group firm. HCL Group is among the companies that have applied to set up electronic chip plants under the "Scheme for Compound Semiconductors."

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced the signing of a Vivanta hotel in Thane, Maharashtra. Located in the heart of the city on LBS Road, the existing hotel will be upgraded into the Vivanta brand post renovation.

HCL Technologies, Applied Materials, Rakon India and Chint have evinced interest in investing a total of Rs. 5,000 crore in Karnataka. Tech firm HCL already has a significant presence in Bengaluru. US-based Applied Materials Inc is involved in semiconductor chips and solar products,Rakon is an electronics manufacturer and Chint Electric makes isolator switches.

The chemical and textile company will invest Rs. 500 crore in Tamil Nadu and a memorandum of understanding was signed with the government to this effect. GHCL said it would set up 40,000 ring spindles in Manapparai, Tiruchirappalli district to produce synthetic and synthetic blended yarn to cater to knitting and weaving segments.

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced the signing of a new SeleQtions hotel in Kolkata, West Bengal in partnership with the Ambuja Neotia Group. The hitherto operating hotel, Raajkutir, will be branded as a 33-room IHCL SeleQtions hotel.

IHCL had signed a three-hotel deal with Ambuja Neotia Group as it seeks to make deeper inroads into eastern India. The new projects include two in Kolkata and one in Patna. The group has outlined an investment of Rs. 800 crore for the project. IHCL already has a partnership with the Ambuja Neotia Group for two other hotels.

IHCL’s iconic brand, Taj, jasopened its new hotel in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. It is a 315-room contemporary luxury hotel offering panoramic views of the city’s skyline.

The Maharashtra cabinet has approved a proposal to allot 54.40 hectares of land in coastal Sindhudurg district on a 90-year lease to Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), a subsidiary of the Tata Group, to set up a five- star tourism centre. The land has been acquired by the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC).

The company is providing the District Administration of Coimbatore with vital protection equipment including masks, personal protective equipment (PPE), hand sanitizers and hands-free wash basins. 7,000 PPE kits complying to the SITRA and HLL specifications have already been provided to the district administration.
