MMRCL has floated tenders for the Nagpur Metro Rail Project. The scope of work involves design and construction of elevated metro viaduct of length 9.550 km, construction of embankment, fabrication and launching of superstructure and construction of five metro stations, at a cost of Rs. 470.3 crore.

NMC is all set to start its own bottling plant for packaged water. The proposal was recently approved by Nagpur Environmental Services Ltd. The bottling plant will come up at the Kanhan water treatment plant under private-public partnership model, and is in the tendering stage.

MADC has finalised Anjani Logistics Pvt Ltd as the contractor for setting up a multispecialty hospital and nursing home at Mihan. The firm has got the tender to build and operate the hospital on 0.3 acres. This would be the second medical facility inside the Mihan campus after AIIMS.

NMC plans to construct a Parivahan Bhavan at Mor Bhavan extension in Sitabuldi, and Rs 1.5 crore have been earmarked for this in the civic body’s transport committee budget. Parivahan Bhavan will have a centralised monitoring system of city bus operations, which will be helpful for students and others travelling from Nagpur city to rural areas.

The Public Investment Board (PIB) has cleared phase-II of Nagpur Metro project, expected to cost around Rs. 6,000 crore. It will start from places where phase-I has ended. After the PIB clearance, phase-II now awaits clearance from the Union cabinet. PIB has also cleared the project proposal for Nashik MetroNeo.

The Maharashtra government has allocated Rs. 188 crore for the ongoing phase-1 of the Nagpur Metro. Over 90 per cent of work on phase-1 is complete. Now with the sanctioned amount, the remaining work will be finished rapidly.

The Indian Railways’ maiden draft National Rail Plan released recently Friday aims to develop the Nagpur-Hyderabad Industrial Corridor and Delhi-Nagpur Industrial Corridor under its National Industrial Corridor Development Programme, aiming to develop new industrial cities as Smart Cities and converging next-generation technologies across infrastructure sectors.

After GMR’s bid to take over Nagpur airport was cancelled, there are plans to appoint a fresh private partner for the airport on per-passenger revenue sharing model. This is in line with the latest method adopted by Airports Authority of India (AAI) for privatising the airports it owns.

The development of Ambazari Garden, for which MTDC had signed an agreement with PPP operator Garuda Amusement (Nagpur) Pvt Ltd in September, will be completed by September 2022. It will include banquet halls, party lawns, a resort with 20 rooms, a kitchen, and recreational facilities.
