The Government of Kerala has decided to accept the bid submitted by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd for the construction and operation of the Vizhinjam container transshipment port on PPP model. The phase-I of this project would cost Rs 7,525 crore. Adani Group has sought a grant of Rs 1635 crore from state and central governments and would spend Rs 2,454 crore. Vizhinjam International Seaport Ltd is the project spv. Visakhapatnam Port Connectivity Road Widening Project The total road network within the Visakhapatnam Port limits is about 85 km. About 23.5 km of road network is available within the operational area connecting the entire stacking areas for free movement of vehicles. As part of first phase, the Port connectivity road of length 12.47 km was completed and implemented jointly by the Port and NHAI through SPV Visakhapatnam Port Road Limited. The flyover cum road project facilitates smooth movement of cargo traffic between Port and National Highway-5. Visakhapatnam Port Trust and National Highways Authority of India have plans to implement second phase of port connectivity road widening project costing Rs 100 crore. This would enable for faster evacuation of cargo.
