Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) is the apex Industry body representing leading vehicle and vehicular engine manufacturers in India. According to the growth figures released by SIAM for June 2015, the overall automobile industry growth has remained subdued in June 2015.
Production The industry produced a total 5,750,518 vehicles including passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, three wheelers and two wheelers in April-June 2015 as against 5,661,908 in April-June 2014, registering a marginal growth of 1.57 percent over the same period last year.
Domestic Sales The sales of Passenger Vehicles grew by 6.17 percent in April-June 2015 over the same period last year. Within the Passenger Vehicles, Passenger Cars and Vans grew by 8.57 percent, 1.47 percent respectively while Utility Vehicles dropped by (-) 0.57 percent during April-June 2015 over the same period last year The overall Commercial Vehicles segment registered a growth of 3.55 percent in April-June 2015 as compared to same period last year. Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCVs) registered a growth at 23.23 percent while Light Commercial Vehicles declined by (-) 7.37 percent during April-June 2015 over the same period last year.
Three Wheelers sales declined by (-) 6.77 percent in April-June 2015 over the same period last year. Passenger Carriers and Goods Carriers declined by (-) 7.97 percent and (-) 1.51 percent respectively in April-June 2015 over April-June 2014.
Two Wheelers sales registered a marginal growth of 0.64 percent in April-June 2015 over April-June 2014. Within the Two Wheelers segment, Scooters and Mopeds grew by 7.25 percent and 3.92 percent respectively while Motorcycles dropped by (-) 1.97 percent in April-June 2015 over April-June 2014.
Exports In April-June 2015, overall automobile exports grew by 9.22 percent. Passenger Vehicles, Commercial Vehicles, Three Wheelers and Two Wheelers registered a growth at 0.75 percent 26.01 percent 40.05, percent and 6.15 percent respectively in April-June 2015 over April-June 2014.
