The Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPP) with 4000 MW capacity is planned to come up near Kakwara village under Katoria block in Banka district of Bihar state. The plant is being set up in joint venture by Bihar Mega Power Limited (BMPL) and Power Finance Corporation Limited (PFCL). Wasteland would be utilised for setting up this plant. The estimated cost of the project is around Rs 30,000 crore. Land requirement is to the tune of 2,550 acre. Water requirement is around 120 cusecs (12,000 cubic meter per hour).
