Dholera is India's largest upcoming green city. The city has a total footprint of over 920 sq km and developable area of 540 sq km. The city has got the IGBC green city rating based on credit points achieved in 7 categories such as Eco-vision; Land Use Planning and Built Environment; Health and Well-Being; Sustainability Mobility; Water, Energy and Infrastructure Management, Information and Communications Technology; and Innovation in City Planning, besides the IGBC mandatory requirements.
Alkesh Kumar Sharma, CEO and MD, DMICDC while speaking on the sidelines of the Green Building Congress 2016 said that city's world-class infrastructure is benchmarked against international best practices and would incorporate features like rainwater harvesting, 100% water recycling and reuse, efficient mobility planning; 100 per cent collection of solid waste with no public dumping of waste and stormwater management.
