MIHAN India Ltd (MIL), a joint venture of Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) and Airports Authority of India (AAI) currently operates Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport at Nagpur. MIL aims to upgrade and modernize this airport and is looking for a strategic partner. Request for qualification was invited in May, 2016 to undertake the project on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) model through Public Private Participation (PPP) basis. Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has cleared the proposal submitted by MIL seeking security clearance of 5 applicants who had submitted their RFQ. Companies like GMR Airports Ltd, GVK Airport Developers Ltd, PNC Infratech Ltd, Tata Reality and Infrastructure Ltd, and (5) Essel Infra Project Ltd are in the fray for this project.
