Due to Supreme Court order, all the BS-III vehicles were banned for sales in April, an inventory of 15,000 BS-III graded commercial vehicles weigh heavily on Tata Motors. The commercial vehicles division is getting ready to avoid any such future shocks. The company is working on introducing Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology in its vehicles. These technologies not only make its vehicles comply with BS IV emission norms but would also help the company migrate from BS-IV to BS-VI, which is poised to become the norm in April 2020.
