Gautam Suri, CTO & Founder Director, Interarch Building Products Pvt Ltd shares his view with Sandeep Sharma about his pre-engineered building systems & solutions, growth rate achieved in the current fiscal, major clientele, projects, quality control mechanism, impact of GST and Cement sector outlook for 2017.Edited excerpts...

Could you tell us about your company, manufacturing base, people, process, and core competencies?
Interarch is one of India’s leading turnkey Pre-Engineered Metal building & Steel Construction Company. Interarch has been in the business of metal building systems for past 34 years and has expertise in integrated Design& Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply, and turnkey execution of pre-engineered steel buildings. Interarch’s work spans various applications ranging from Industrial factory buildings , warehouses, Infrastructure projects like Airports, Ports, Metro Stations, Stadiums, Multi-Storey Steel Buildings for Offices , Schools, Hospitals and light Buildings Systems for applications like Farmhouses, Villas, Resorts, Roof Top construction and other institutional requirements.
 
Interarch caters to some of the most diverse steel building construction projects in India ranging from clients like TATA Motors, HONDA, Hindustan Unilever, ITC, Asian Paints, Ultratech Cements, BHEL, Indospace, ABB , GMR, L & T, NTPC, CIPLA, Dr. Reddy, Fortis Hospitals, HCL, Siemens and many more.
 
Interarch’s capabilities extend all over India with nationwide sales and project support offices spread over 20 locations. Our Manufacturing is serviced by three manufacturing units at Pantnagar & Kichha Uttarakhand and Sriperumbudur near Chennai. These 3 plants enable Interarch with a combined capacity of over 1,20,000 MT per annum of steel building structures and over 40,000 MT per annum for its Tracdek Roof & Wall systems

What kind of pre-engineered building systems & solutions do you provide for the cement industry in India?

How did your company fare so far in terms of business generated, growth rate achieved and your expectations from the current financial year?
We are satisfied with the business generated and current growth rate achieved by the company. This year also, in 45 days we have won orders for over Rs 150 Crore from Parle Agro Pvt Ltd, Greenply Industries Ltd, Asian Paints Ltd , Tata Motors Ltd , Safex Logistics Solutions Pvt Ltd etc. and many more. Pre-Engineered steel construction market has been growing in double figure year-on-year since the last few years; also it would certainly not be an exaggeration if we say the industry is catching-up very rapidly. In fact, pre-engineered building sector has started getting its due credit as a favourable alternative construction methodology in India today.

Who are your major clientele and which are the prestigious projects executed by you in the last one year?
Interarch has been providing innovative solutions to Indian market right from inception in 1984 and even today many innovative solutions have been accomplished by Interarch in last year right from Multi-storey buildings to a 99.8 M Clear-Span to delivering largest manufacturing plant for Tyre manufacturing company in India.

Interarch is in process of delivering first Ground +7 Multi-Storey Hospital Building for Fortis Healthcare in Bangalore; has delivered a 99.8 M clear span building, largest in India for Ultratech Cement ltd in Raipur; Delivered more than 5,00,000 lakh sq ft of warehousing space for Indospace Industrial park at various locations in South and North India; Greenfield manufacturing plant for Asian Paints Ltd in Karnataka ; about to deliver more than 1,08,000 sq m Greenfield manufacturing facility for Maxxis India Pvt ltd ( largest tyre factory in 2016)

Could you share with us insights about your quality control mechanism and adoption of best practices while executing any PEB project?
Interarch, an ISO 9001:2008 certified company since 1999 by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. USA believes in continuous improvement of quality in every aspect of its business. The company has in place, an exhaustive Quality Management System and all products meet National and international standard requirements to deliver consistent quality to its customer.

Quality practices carried out at different stages of material production include:

• Raw material inspection in plant and supplier end
• In process and final inspection at worker’s end
• Random testing of Steel at on regular basis
• Independent lab testing of critical material
• Detailed inspection of bought – out inspection
• In process inspection of various manufacturing process
• Final inspection of all items
• Packing Condition Inspection
• Identification & traceability of material

Interarch Quality department organizes different Tests on Built-up items to ensure high standard of quality.

What can be the impact of GST on the PEB industry in India?
We feel GST is going to be a game changer and we are foreseeing huge demand particularly in the warehousing sector once GST is implemented in India

Could you comment on the Cement sector outlook for 2017?
The cement sector plays a vital role in the economic growth of the country, and we are sure we will see some expansion in the year from the major players in the industry

Going forward, what are your immediate and long term growth plans in India?
We are focusing on providing international quality buildings to our customers; we have enjoyed a good market share in the industry and are placed in the top 2 of the PEB manufacturers in India. The last few years have been exceptionally good for Interarch and we have grown year on year in terms of top line.  For the next few months, we will be focusing on automotive, warehousing and infrastructure industry.
