The Namma metro project in Bengaluru consists of two colour-coded lines, Green and Purple, with a total length of 42.3 km serving 41 stations.The system has a mix of underground, at-grade, and elevated stations using standard-gauge tracks. The underground section of the Green Line of Namma Metro train service was recently inaugurated by the President of India Pranab Mukherjee in the city of Bengaluru. The project was originally scheduled to complete in 2015. Due to delay in the project completion the cost has escalated from Rs 11,600 crore to Rs 14,200 crore as per media reports. The second phase work comprising 61 stations and spread over 72.10 km, has already commenced.
