Karnataka Public Works Department has recently finalised Shiradi Ghat reconstruction bids. Package 1 comprising 13-km stretch of the ghat section got completed in 2015. Package 2 contract had to be cancelled due to contractor's failure to start work. Ocean Constructions has emerged as the lowest bidder after the project's balance work was put to bidding again. Union Ministry’s clearance was sought. The work is likely to commence by December/January on the remaining 13-km stretch of Shiradi Ghat from Gundya to Kempu Hole.
