The demand for air-conditioner is on the rise as consumers are becoming increasingly accustomed to air-conditioned environment at the workplace, home, malls, cinema halls and in their cars. With the consumer durables industry in India growing at 15 per cent annually, and the fact that the air conditioning segment remains among the least penetrated consumer durable segments, at less than 3 per cent, more and more players are entering the AC market with hopes of tapping the growth opportunities.

B D Shetty, Director, Maxon Group shares his views with Sandeep Sharma about his group companies, core competencies, and customization offered in air conditioning, structural steel works, glazing and fabrication system, business climate and future potential of HVAC. Edited Excerpts…

Tell us about your company, mission, objectives and core competencies?
MAXON Group is in business since 2002. We are now servicing clients all over Mumbai, Pune and Mangalore. Our technicians and installers are trained specialist. Our company undertakes supplying, installation and maintenance contracts for all types of Air conditioner sales and installations including annual maintenance contract, duct Cleaning and air quality products. We understand customer’s requirement and work accordingly to get the best results within the specified time frame. Not only we provide Air Conditioning service & solution, we also provide service related to fabrication and glazing systems.

What kind of services do you provide with regard to Commercial Air Conditioning?
We undertake Central Air Conditioning and offer all kinds of air conditioning solution for commercial premises. Since 2002 we have been designing service contracts to not only ensure you low maintenance and repair cost, but also assure client’s peace of mind. Our focus is on quality customer care and on lower cooling and heating bills for corporate and home users. We undertake sales & services of all kinds of air conditioners, be it commercial, industrial or residential.

Do you offer customized service package to your long term clientele?
Definitely Yes, We provide customized packages for clients based on their requirement not only for cooling solutions but for our glazing and fabrication solutions as well. Could you talk about your process and people responsible for ensuring deliverable meeting highest quality standards?

What kind of Structural Steel fabrication works do you undertake?
Our Group Company, Global Enterprises Engineering is a progressive structural steel fabrication, and turnkey project execution and erection company, located in Mumbai and Mangalore. In glazing systems, we manufacture and install architectural and blast-rated aluminum windows, storefronts, entrances and curtain wall systems. Where do you see your company five years from now?
We have started our business eleven years from scratch. We have chosen the slow and steady path for growth. In next five years we are looking to set up many branches in various parts of India. Apart from Mumbai, we have our base in Mangalore & Pune. We are looking to expand our business in Western and Southern parts of India.

What needs to be done to improve the business climate in India? Do you expect construction sector growth on the higher side in FY2013-14?

According to the recent estimates by Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), the overall constructed area of the building sector in India will be 9,670 million square metre which includes offices, retail, hospitality, and residential outputs. The potential demand from the construction sector, coupled with the potential to save energy from air-conditioning especially through efficient technologies, will usher a boom period for the HVAC sector in the coming years, and will see a upsurge in the market.
